Passive first — the 5 % rule
A room is acceptable free-running when at most 5 % of occupied hours exceed the comfort limit (EN 16798-1). Before adding cooling capacity try, in order: exterior screens, night ventilation, more exposed mass, less glass — every change re-simulates the year instantly.
Assumptions
Reflectances: ceiling 0.8 · walls 0.7 · floor 0.3 · frame fraction 80 %. LTA is set in the Building fabric card. Movable shading is ignored for daylight (GRO convention); LM-83 blind operation is not modelled — treat sDA as indicative. Neighbouring rooms and tagged surroundings block light.
Element values are mPt per m² of element over the building's life (EN 15978 life-cycle assessment), sample data — import real LCA results via ⬆ Import (JSON or one buildup per line as name;element;mPt); a live database connection is planned. Surfaces come from the scan: interior walls count once (each shared face at 50 %), storey floors count slab + ceiling as one buildup from the room above, technical systems follow the Systems choices.
Prices per m² of element are set under Building fabric → Materials, next to the life-cycle impact; a buildup brings its own price. The global cost adds every year's energy cost over the period, rising by the energy price rise and discounted at the real rate. Replacements and maintenance are not in it yet.
⬆ Import spaces from Excel — generate the rooms in the model…
Tick rows to select those rooms in the 3D view and bulk-edit them in the sidebar selection card; selecting in SketchUp highlights the rows here. Space names are editable — they rename the SketchUp group. Cooling capacity, comfort category and daylight targets are building-level settings under Systems.
Transfer openings: door undercuts or grilles of ≥ 25 m³/h per internal door (≥ 50 m³/h to the kitchen); ≈ 70 cm² free section per 25 m³/h. Natural potential: Warren–Parkins stack; operable share set under Systems → Automated windows.
